Guide – FFXIV – Final Fantasy XIV – Green-screen for all your selfie needs!

Making a green-screen capture of the game is really simple actually.

The first option is to use ReShade and then use one of the shaders called “Chroma”. If you enable these, you can remove the background behind your character. This is quick to setup, but might be clunky at times. Like with some effects, it might just not work right.

You can just emote your character with a User Macro in-game. Hide your UI, and then just press screenshot or record the game-screen with OBS. You can also use gpose, of course.

Second option is to use the housing system, and build a green screen. Don’t worry, it’s very simple actually.

Get a house or room for yourself. Anyone can get Apartments in the game, it’s probably the quickest and easiest way to build your own photo room. Quick tip! If you go into a housing zone, let’s say in Lavender Beds, and see the Apartments are totally full – just change Ward. Every ward has its own set of apartments. You will always find an apartment room in all the zones.

Once you purchase it, you just need to buy 2x White Screens, and a Stage Panel. And Ochu Green dye. For Chandelier, I recommend the Glade Chandelier – this gives the whitest color.

Now just put everything in front of you, building a little “green screen place”. That’s all. Now you just need to take screenshots or record with OBS.

How to remove the Ochu Green background?

In Adobe After Effects, use Keylight.
In CapCut, you can pick a Chroma key.

I did this GIF with After Effects, it’s really, really simple to use.

I will update the guide for photos, and ReShade in a bit.
